HCI Practicals Kit and Room Slots SS 2020

Email me (kandrews@iicm.edu) by Mon 04 May 2020 14:00 to reserve a kit or a room for a particular slot, stating your group number. Note that there is only limited availabilty.

In addition, inform your tutor whether you will be organising your own video equipment and room or will be using ours.

1. Usability Kit Only

All loans and returns from/to Prof. Andrews' office, room D2.16, ID01054, Inffeldgasse 16c, 1st floor. Four usability kits (Kits 1 to 4) are available to take away on loan. One usability kit (Kit 5) stays at the institute in the test room. Each kit contains (among other stuff):

Stick exactly to the time slots below:

One member of your group (it does not have to be the same person) will need to present their TU Graz student ID and sign for the equipment upon loan and upon return.

Kit-Only (multi-day slots for pilot + real tests)

The loan period is (usually) from 10:30 on the day of loan to 10:30 on the day of return.

Remember that you should never run your real test on the same day as your pilot test!

  Returns only

Note that it is more convenient for you, your test users, and us, if you can organise your own video equipment. Tell your tutor whether you have your own equipment or if you need to borrow equipment.

Partial Loans

I have one extra microphone and one extra tripod, which can be borrowed separately, at the same time slots as the kits (see above).

2. Test Room, Mirror, and Usability Kit

We expect almost all groups will be able to organise their own room with a computer connected to the Internet to conduct the thinking aloud tests.

If you really cannot organise anywhere to run your tests, a room at the institute with a mirror and a set of video equipment (Kit 5) will be available at the times listed below. Note that you need one of the pilot test slots in addition to one of the real test slots.

A computer will not be available. I am assuming you are bringing a laptop with you.

Note that it is much more convenient for you, your test users, and us, if you can organise your own test room. Tell your tutor if you need to use our room.
