Exercise 3: Project

1 Produce Presentation Slides

Once you have been assigned your project topic, you will present your work to me every week (see the schedule) using a slide deck and possibly accompanying live demos and/or videos:

• The first week, you present your initial ideas.
• The next few weeks, you present an incremental update of your progress so far.
• The final two weeks you present a full, self-contained talk (assuming no prior knowledge) about your topic.

2 Produce One or More Showcase Videos

You will probably produce one or more showcase videos, illustrating your project.

3 Write a Project Report

Write a project report on the topic your group was assigned in class:

• This is a group exercise.

• Write in English.

• Read my guide to Using LaTeX.

• Use and adapt the example LaTeX skeleton for writing a survey paper for your project report.

4 Prepare Your Project Folder

Prepare a hand-in folder called iaweb-wsYYYY-gN-project, where YYYY is the year and N is your group number (for example iaweb-ws2024-g1-project), containing your report and all related materials and code.

Your hand-in folder structure will look something like this:

  iaweb-ws2024-g1-project/
    data/
    latex-src/
      diagrams/
      images/
      listings/
    literature/
    presentation/
    software/
    videos/
    iaweb-ws2024-g1-project.pdf

Bear in mind:

• Include any data files you used in a data/ folder.

• Include the LaTeX source of your project report in a subdirectory called latex-src/. Delete any files which are not part of your survey paper (my example files, temporary files, junk files).

• Include any additional papers or literature which you discovered in a subdirectory called literature/.

• Include the slides from your final presentation as PDF plus the native format (ppt, key, zip of html) in a subdirectory called presentation/.

• Include any code or software in a subdirectory called software/.

• Include any showcase videos in a videos/ folder.

• Include the final PDF of your project report in a file called iaweb-wsYYYY-gN-project.pdf, where YYYY is the year and N is your group number, for example iaweb-ws2024-g1-project.pdf.

• If you do not need a particular folder, do not include it.

  Do not leave empty folders or junk lying around.

5 Hand In Your Work

Zip up your hand-in folder as a file named something like iaweb-ws2024-g1-project.zip and hand it in on TeachCenter.
